My passion for serving the poor started 12 years ago when I sponsored a little boy in Lima, Peru through Food for the Hungry. The following year my church along with FH, organized a mission trip to go meet the sponsor children. This summer will be my 8th mission trip to Lima Peru with FH. Each year the team has a project that focuses on the needs of the community in a wholistic way; Spritually, Emotionally and Physically. We teach, listen, encourage and walk along side the people so that they may help themselves.
September 1 - 11, 2011, I will be part of a team that will help FH establish Oikos Schools in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima Peru. These schools will focus on building strong family relationships from a biblical perspective as well as strengthen resources within the home and family. 80% of the families experience domestic violence in their homes. Money raised will go towards creating a "safe space" such as a Community Center, Library, Children's Play Area or Sports Court.
