Hi Friends and Family,

Our beloved “Capoeira Academy” is at risk of closing its doors.

I have a deep connection with Capoeira that is hard for me to explain. But I will try....Every time I am in the “academy” it is like a switch gets activated and I am free. The everyday work stress disappears when I am at capoeira. This event is important for my family and my fellows Capoeiristas. UCA Berkeley is the headquarters and it can not close its doors so I am asking for your help to donate to this cause.

"I want to participate in the roda-thon because I want to help others and build a better community like I have found here at UCA Capoeria Berkeley. I love capoeria because I like to move my body and like the music and instruments. I would be sad if my capoeria school does not have the money to stay opened, so that is why I am participating in the roda-thron."

Our children and my husband have grown so much in their physical abilities. It is impressive and I am in awe of how effortless they make capoeria look. Capoeria is so inclusive of everyone and all abilities and includes so many art forms. It would be a tragedy if our capoeria school does not earn the resources it needs to operate.
