Hi Friends and Family, I am partnering with Capoeira Arts Foundation and raising money for 2018 Capoeira Arts Foundation Roda-thon.
This art has been a part of my life for 14 wonderful years.I would not be the person I am without the life skills I have learned through it. It has taught me to be a leader,a teacher, and what it means to be a part of something that is bigger than myself.
The capoeira school, that is our parent school, and led by the internationally inspiring Mestre Acordeon, in is in danger of having to close it's doors. The UCA Berkeley school, aka Capoeira Arts Foundation - non-profit 501(c)(3), recently found out that a long standing annual grant of $60,000 would be moving in a new direction and as such left this capoeira home, and hub for myself and so many other capoeiristas, in a very difficult situation. This grant was a major part of keeping the doors open and allowing the school's non-profit arm to offer programs for children here in our community and abroad in Brazil (such as Projecto Kirumure) to find success. It also provided a firm base to fund a host of other valuable capoeira related projects. With the loss of this grant, UCA Berkeley is scrambling to reorganize and consolidate their priorities in order to be able to continue their day to day activities and keep their doors open. Will you help me support this iconic Capoeira school?
