Please support the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk’s (VNSHS) 21st Annual 5K Run/Walk/Bike for the Health of It. This year’s event will be VIRTUAL allowing participants to join from anywhere, anytime during National Nurse’s Week, May 6-12 to benefit Hospice House.

I'm running in honor of my sister, Donna, who died at 57 years old of a terrible and very painful cancer. The hospice care she received helped reduce her pain and find some relief in her last days.  I am forever grateful.

Founded by VNSHS in 2004 as New York's States first freestanding inpatient hospice, Hospice House provides compassionate end-of-life care. Recognizing the dignity, comfort and choices of every patient, hospice works in partnership with each patient, their doctor and family to create an individualized plan to meet their needs. A family centered concept of care, hospice focuses on both the patient and their loved ones. Since 2004, more than 5,000 patients have been lovingly cared for at Hospice House.  In 2020, half of the rooms at Hospice House were converted to negative pressure for COVID patients while allowing us to safely care for non-COVID patients in the remaining rooms.

Hospice House continues to run at a deficit annually which is offset by events such as our 5K.Thank you for your support!
