As per Merriam Webster:

Tour de Force (TDF)- an impressive performance or achievement that has been accomplished or managed with great skill.

For September of 2021 though, it takes on a different meaning for me. As a Registered Nurse, I experienced first hand the tragedies and devastation that Covid-19 brought upon the world in 2020. Though healthcare workers are devoted to caring for others (even in the most difficult times) it is important that we also take care of ourselves. Our mental, physical and emotional well being are crucial to maintain in order to properly care for others. That, for me, is where cycling and the TDF comes in. Not only is it a hobby that I picked up in 2019, it has become a saving grace for me and a part of who I am. It helped me stay well and healthy during the surge of Covid cases experienced in NYC and it helped me recover from a surgery I personally underwent in May 2020.

The 20th annual TDF is a bike ride that is taking place from Boston to NYC (yes... you read me right). That's almost 300 miles to cover on a bike. But, what for?

Well, in 2001, our country experienced a tremendous catastrophe at ground zero. The lives of many people were tragically taken that day, including those in the NYPD and FDNY. The TDF started in 2002 when NYPD Det. Robert de Paolis decided to do a bike ride in honor of the police officers whose lives were lost that day. Now, the TDF has expanded from 1 rider, to nearly 300 riders.

Each year, the Tour de Force raises funds to benefit the families of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty nationwide. The TDF also actively contributes to similar charities in support of the dedication they show to honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It is a fully supported ride that includes riders from all over the world.

I just started cycling in 2019 and have made a commitment to myself to be a part of this ride every year for as long as I can. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause!!!
