Boar's Head Brigade to Host

The 2023 Courageous Challenge

For the fourth consecutive year the cadets of the University of North Georgia will host the Courageous Challenge all for the purpose of saving lives on the battlefield of personal despair.

Since 2017 the Courageous Challenge has served as the primary friend and fundraising campaign of Armed Forces Mission (AFM) to build a network of care that reduces suicide through direct intervention of those at risk and the training of others to do the same.

Since inception in 2012 AFM has conducted more than 2,000 successful suicide interventions and trained more than 25,000 caring community members nationwide to do the same. The Boar's Head Brigade is a sustaining partner in the fight!

Suicide among young people ages 18 to 24 has increased 100% across the state of Georgia in the past ten years. During 2020 while suicide went down slightly for the general population due to the "honeymoon effect" of the COVID crisis, the rate for young people actually increased 22% that year.

The challenge has never been greater and

your help is needed more than ever before.

The Courageous Challenge 2023 will be a weightlifting event and the rally cry is "STRENGTH for LIFE". Each company of the Boar's Head Brigade will field a team of their strongest cadets bringing their physical strength in a contest to help those who struggle to find hope rediscover strength for life.

The success of the mission is dependent upon the network of friends and family adding their financial strength that helps underwrite ongoing training of community members in the skills that save lives. As a valued donor you are the force multiplier that helps those at risk find...
