Dear Friends and Family,
Eastside Christian Church has planned global compassion trips for this coming summer all over the world. Jeff and I will be serving as part of the leadership team that will be traveling to Chile on June 20th and Ecuador on July 7th. We will be building a home for earthquake victims, expanding a children's center, building a new church, doing home visitations providing food staples and sharing the story of Jesus. We felt a strong desire to be a part of this trip because of our long standing relationships in the countries with national partners and the receptivity and need of the people. We feel blessed to have this incredible opportunity to help others and know there is a lot of work ahead as we begin to prepare.
I know we go on these trips every summer, and we try to balance even asking for your help every other year and pay all for the expenses ourselves on the "off" year. Honestly, we value your partnership in praying for us and contributing to the work beyond what we can describe. Our preparation, our journey, the ministry is what God has called us to, but we cannot do it without your partnership in prayer and support. Spiritual battles surely ahead and we need you to be involved with us.
Each team member has been entrusted with raising an equal share of the total cost to send us. The expenses cover so much more than just our travel; the funds enable the ministries to complete projects. The church in Melipeuco, Chile is excited to begin construction on the building that will serve as their place of worship and community center. Melipeuco is surrounded by Mapuche communities, a marginalized people group in Southern Chile. The vision of the church is plant house churches within each of the surrounding communities. The building itself will serve as a tool to minister holistically to the townspeople as it will give the opportunity for the church to host community events focused on unleashing compassion to those who do not yet know Him. The church has adopted the mission of connecting their community with God, creating community through small groups, and extending compassion both at local and global levels. The cost of the first phase of construction is $15,000.The El Recreo church in Ecuador has set the goal of growing their children’s program at the Sunrise house by 50% this year. They currently are ministering to 200 children and their families through sponsorship. Their goal in 2018 is to raise that number to 300. By 2025, they hope to reach 600 children. This ministry sits adjacent to the largest slum in Guayaquil where children are at risk from mal-nutrition, trafficking, and drug lords who hook kids as young as eight. The cost for additional classrooms is $18,000. The community of San Vicente in Ecuador is situated at "ground zero" of the earthquake that devastated the community. We will be rebuilding lives and homes.
The amount I must personally raise for both tips is 5990.00. If you wish to partner with me in this ministry please click on the “GIVE NOW” button to donate.
