Ecuador Mission Trip 2018 Learn More

Dear Friends and Family,

My church, Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, has planned a global compassion trip for this coming summer and I am excited to be serving on the team. I will be traveling to Ecuador from July 8-20, where we will be serving a community that was severely impacted by a large earthquake last year. I'll be putting my modest building skills to use in the construction of housing and a child development center.

I have been compelled to serve in Central or South America for many years and with Amy's encouragement I have finally taken the step to go.  While it will be tough to leave my girls behind, I am excited to finally step outside my comfort zone in the hope of making a difference.

As I reviewed the various project descriptions for the 2018 mission opportunities, the trip to Ecuador seemed to resonate with me.  Frankly, the description made it sound like straight-up hard work in a pretty uncomfortable climate.  I have no explanation for why a skinny dude acclimated to the mild southern California climate would choose hard labor in the tropics, but I can't wait to go.

My church first traveled to Ecuador last year in response to the 2016 earthquake. I can only imagine the devastation of a nearly 8.0 earthquake in towns built of thatch and tin.  I feel a little love and hard work might actually make a difference there and that is why I am so eager to go.  While I don't know exactly what's in store for me on this trip, my prayer is that I will make a contribution that will bring a little joy to the people I meet and serve.  Thank you so much for partnering with me as I prepare to go. Following are some ways you can help.

First, I would be honored if you would pray for us…for preparation, for safe travel, our projects, and for the unknown challenges that are surely ahead. Secondly, I'd like to know if you would be willing to contribute to the work we are doing by covering part of the cost of the trip.

Each team member has been entrusted with raising an equal share of the trip's total cost. The amount I must personally raise is $2,995 which is due by July 1, 2018. If you wish to partner with me in this ministry, please click on the “GIVE NOW” button to donate. If you prefer to give a check or cash donation you can make your check payable to “Eastside Christian Church” and note my name and "Ecuador" in the memo line and mail/bring it to the address below. Contributions to our project are tax deductible and the church will provide you with a statement at the end of the year for your tax records.

Thank you for considering being a part of my team. If you have any questions I’d love the opportunity to tell you more, just let me know!

My first team training is this weekend (January 28th).  I'm eager to meet the other people going on the trip and to learn more about our objectives while we're there.  One of my commitments for 2018 is to grow in gratitude.  Soon after committing to this idea, we (The Livergood family) was given the opportunity to help at a local homeless shelter.

Our job was simple, serve a hot breakfast to some neighbors.  It was a great experience for all of us as we loaded plates full of steaming, hearty breakfast foods and delivered them to the people resting in the warmth of a heated room.  We look forward to helping again soon.

The best part of making gratitude our goal is that joy tends to follow closely behind.

Hi! Thanks for checking out my page. I want to let you know that I made a mistake on my last contribution to the mission trip and it posted 3 times!! Yikes, I'm working on reversing some of that. So if you've dropped by to make a donation, please know that I'm not 86% of the way to my goal as the page shows. I've only raised $1,600 towards my goal and still have $1,400 to go.  So thank you for helping however you can.  I'm grateful for your support.
