Hey Friends and Family!
I wanted to share some exciting news with you... Eastside Christian Church has planned another global compassion trip for this coming summer and I will be joining them again, only this time, I have received the honor of being asked that I come and serve as a team leader! I will be traveling to the Mathare slums just like last summer and overseeing a team of 8-10 people from June 20th to July 2nd. We will be bringing food and solar lights that also serve as cell phone charging stations to homes, we will possibly be building a playground (if it doesn't get stuck in customs - prayers please!), and spreading joy and hope and reminding God's people that they are loved and NOT forgotten. Last, but not least, we will be hosting another women's conference where I also serve as a committee member. Last year when I was asked to share my testimony, we had nearly 600 women in attendance and it was a life changer for me. This year, we hope to exceed that number by at least 100 and have amazing messages and activities planned for them. Stay Tuned! I felt a strong desire to be a part of this trip because life is so chaotic and so many things are up in the air for me right now. I am vacillated with plans for my future. I think I know what I want to do and then BAM things change and my life is headed in the complete opposite direction. When the Global Compassion Team Lead for the Mathare Valley approached me and asked me why she hadn't received my application to return to Kenya, I didn't have an answer. I couldn't find a legitimate excuse for why I couldn't return. My prayer is that I can contribute to our efforts by going and sharing with all the incredible women of Kenya how much they are loved and how important they are. I feel blessed to have this incredible opportunity to help others and know there is a lot of work ahead as we begin to prepare. I could use your help!
First, I would be honored if you would pray for us…for preparation, for our journey, our ministry and for the spiritual battles surely ahead. They definitely hit me last year and the support I received from many of you makes me speechless. Secondly, I'd like to know if you would contribute to the work we are doing by covering part of the cost of the trip.
Each team member has been entrusted with raising an equal share of the total cost to send us. The amount I must personally raise is $1,450 and it is due by May 30th. If you wish to partner with me in this ministry please click on the “GIVE NOW” button to donate. (There is an option to cover the cost of the credit card fee that you can opt out of if you prefer.) Or if you prefer to give a check or cash donation you can make your check payable to “Eastside Christian Church” and note my name and "Kenya Mathare 2018" in the memo line and mail/bring it to the address below. No amount is too big or too small - everything counts and is greatly appreciated! Contributions to our project are tax-deductible. Everybody wins! You're very important to me. Thank you for considering being a part of my team. If you have any questions I’d love the opportunity to tell you more so just call, text or email me!
