Dear Friends and Family,
I wanted to share some exciting news with you! Eastside Christian Church has planned a global compassion trip for this coming summer and I will be serving as part of the team! I will be traveling to MATHARE, KENYA from June 20th to July 2nd where we will be providing better nutrition, clean water, education and the hope of Jesus to those in need of it. I am at the point in my life where I can spend a summer off of school to do something great for others.
I felt a strong desire to be a part of this trip because I wanted to learn about the world through the experience of giving.
It can be hard to feel like we are making any real impact sometimes. Doing a good deed is always nice, returning a lost phone to a stranger, buying a homeless person a cup of coffee, helping an elderly person up a steep flight of steps, these acts all help somebody and make you feel good. I realized that I had an opportunity for my impact to not just be a temporary thing, not to only change someone’s day but their entire life.
Life can often be just a bit too much. Daily stresses like work, family, relationships, and health can leave you overwhelmed, but one thing that volunteering in struggling communities can do is lend perspective.
This opportunity will allow me to give back to local communities and conservation efforts, and it also lets me immerse myself deeper in the culture and essence of the place.
Volunteering abroad can be very fulfilling no matter what project you undertake. I personally hope to help provide better nutrition, clean water, education and the hope of Jesus to the single child I sponsor and her community
To volunteer abroad is to change lives for the better. Whether it’s through community improvement, medical care, or education, volunteers help struggling people in such a way that could easily be the biggest and greatest deed they have ever, or will ever, perform.
I feel blessed to have this incredible opportunity to help others and know there is a lot of work ahead as we begin to prepare. I could use your help!
First, I would be honored if you would pray for us…for preparation, for our journey, our ministry and for the spiritual battles surely ahead. Secondly, I'd like to know if you would contribute to the work we are doing by covering part of the cost of the trip.
Each team member has been entrusted with raising an equal share of the total cost to send us. The amount I must personally raise is $2,900.00 and it is due by June 10th.
If you wish to partner with me in this ministry, please click on the “GIVE NOW” button to donate. (There is an option to cover the cost of the credit card fee that you can opt out of if you prefer.) Or if you prefer to give a check or cash donation you can make your check payable to “Eastside Christian Church” and note my name and "Kenya Mathare 2018" in the memo line and mail/bring it to the address below. Contributions to our project are tax-deductible. You're very important to me. Thank you for considering being a part of my team. If you have any questions I’d love the opportunity to tell you more so just call, text or email me!
*All donations are given to Eastside Christian Church and a tax-deductible statement will be issued to you at the end of the year.
