This is the 8th Year of The 50 Miles for Murph and Operation Red Wings Memorial Run.
On Friday, June 26th, 2020, we will be running the - “50 miles for Lt. Michael Murphy and Operation Red Wing”- in groups of 4 and staggered so we can social distance. I will be running with the American flag and also rucking 6 miles out the 50 with a 50lb rucksack: to respect, to honor and to raise awareness for our soldiers past and present. All gave some. Some gave All.
Our main goal of the 50 Miles for Murph and ORW is to continue their legacies and honor the sacrifice they made for our country while also raising money for several charities to help benefit the veterans and their families.
50 Miles for Murph and ORW started in 2013 with just two runners but has since grown to 20 runners in 2019. With 2020 also being the 15 year anniversary since Operation Red Wings, we are hoping to raise more money than all our previous years combined.

Michael Murphy was 29 years old in June 2005, when he perished in a fierce firefight in mountainous terrain along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in Operation Red Wings. Murphy would be awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during Operation Red Wings. Murph was born and raised on Long Island where he served as a Town of Brookhaven lifeguard at Lake Ronkonkoma. Murph graduated from Penn State University with Honors, and instead of attending Law School, joined the Navy SEALs.
