Changing worlds with photography

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit this page.

I have been invited to go on an assignment with the humanitarian organisation Photographers Without Borders (PWB). I will be going to Kathmandu, Nepal to work with the NGO Pragya Seeds on documenting their Zero Waste projects in remote mountain communities.

Pragya Seeds

Like many countries around the world, Nepal has a significant waste problem. By estimation, over 1500 tonnes of waste is produced per day. Although this does not top the list, this proves very problematic because of the lack of infrastructure to process this waste. It is essential that these problems get resolved for the wellbeing of the current population as that of future generations. Founded in 2012, Pragya Seeds is the Nepali chapter of a worldwide organisation that promotes Zero Waste practices. Their mission is to provide access to scientific knowledge and practices to local mountain communities so that they consume local resources in the most environmentally friendly and economical way possible.

This includes:

- Invoking changes of attitude toward waste and waste management practices

- Conducting awareness and education activities in schools, community centres and religious institutions

- Teaching and participating in the construction of composts and other bio alternatives

- Working with farmers so to improve their access to clean energy and green fertilisers

How can my photography make a difference?

As a human, I believe we are all here to support and hold each other where we can. As a photographer I’ve learned that photography can be an incredibly powerful tool to invoke changes in peoples mindsets and even in societies as a whole. This opportunity allows me to tell the story of an organisation which Nepal is in desperate need of.

How can you help?

Pragya seeds is an NGO that promotes zero waste by empowering local communities. By helping them, you strengthen communities and enable them to work together on lowering their production of waste as well as improving education on waste practices, green fertilisers, and waste management as a whole.

Your contribution will make it possible to organise workshops in local communities, to organise campaigns and to provide waste management infrastructure. You will be contributing to a cleaner and more aware Nepal whilst also improving the standards of living in local communities.

Your support to this cause would mean the world to me. Thank you.

About PWB

Photographers Without Borders® (PWB) envisions a world where we all put ourselves in each others' shoes and work together. Our mission is to inform and inspire positive change by visually communicating the ways that grassroots initiatives are addressing problems in their communities. PWB is registered as a charity in the United States with 501(c)(3) status and is registered as a not-for-profit organisation in Canada.

Every year, our photographers and videographers donate hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of their time to document the work of grassroots initiatives that are making a real change in this world where it is most needed. By capturing, honouring and witnessing humanity at its best, we are not only inspiring many, but we are forging new narratives of what is and what is possible.

Each of our official photographers/videographers is assigned a GroupRev fundraising page by PWB upon acceptance. These pages are a privilege we offer that are intended to make our programs accessible to all and enable our volunteer photographers/videographers to raise their program fees and subsidise or cover these necessary project-related expenses:

  • Airfare
  • Visa's
  • Vaccinations
  • Health Insurance
  • Travel Insurance

Please donate generously!

Learn more about PWB.

Any overage amounts raised on GroupRev will be donated and disbursed 50/50, between the photographer's/videographer's assigned cause and PWB, which is also a volunteer-run organisation.

All donations are calculated in US Dollars and are tax-deductible for Americans and Canadians with US income.
