Photography for Social Change
PWB Project Aug. 1-14, 2017
HELP OVERCOME OBSTACLES PERU, Arequipa
by Anita Bonnarens - Visual Storyteller
Hi, I am Anita
...a Vancouver based Belgian visual storyteller with a passion for observing and documenting life. As an international humanitarian photographer, the art of photography is my language. By creating powerful visual stories I connect with people beyond words, culture, and borders to conserve cultural traditions, raise awareness and inspire social change. With my work I aim to resonate in the heart and move people into action.
As teachers, doctors and nurses volunteer all over the world, PWB photographers also donate their time and skills free of charge to create photographic materials for the NGO. Without marketing it is difficult for them to obtain sponsorships, credibility, funding, tell their stories or become well-known in their communities. Many projects with good intentions often struggle to find funding for their own programming, let alone funding for photography and video, so PWB is solving a huge problem in the world of grassroots organizations worldwide. I am honoured and grateful to be part of a community of storytellers who empower grassroots organizations worldwide and a firm believer in using the power of images to successfully convey work being done by NGO’s and humanitarian agencies. To be able to do this, I am asking for your support.
Your support will allow me to document the NGO Helping Overcome Obstacle Peru (H.O.O.P.) Together we can tell their story through visual communication so they can promote involvement in their mission, grow their support and make a difference in the lives of the families of Arequipa. www.hoopperu.org
HOW IT WORKS
Donors like you have helped photographers fundraise 100% of project-related costs since 2014! If you keep scrolling down you will find an explanation and detailed overview of the project-related costs that are being covered with your donation.
A GIFT FROM ME TO YOU
Any amount will help and is very much appreciated! For any donation as from U.S. $100 I personally send you Silent Poetry, a large (11×8.5 inch), 20-page, hardcover coffee table photo book with a collection of Vancouver moments accompanied with poetic thoughts. Designed by Apple. Delivered in your mailbox.
ART FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
Alternative, I am also offering a collection of my fin art images for sale. You can choose between ordering art prints, canvas prints, metal prints, framed prints or stationary cards. Profits go into the fundraiser. Have a look here:

Photography for Social Change
Every year, our photographers and videographers donate hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of their time to document the work of grassroots initiatives that are making a real change in this world where it is most needed. By capturing, honouring and witnessing humanity at its best, we are not only inspiring many, but we are forging new narratives of what is and what is possible.
You can help by supporting our photographers and videographers (See the side bar to the right to see fundraisers for our most recent recruits).
Each of our official photographers/videographers is assigned a GroupRev fundraising page by PWB upon acceptance. These pages are a privilege we offer that are intended to make our programs accessible to all and enable our volunteer photographers/videographers to raise their program fees and subsidize or cover these necessary project-related expenses:
- Airfare
- Visa's
- Vaccinations
- Health Insurance
- Travel Insurance
The following expenses are the sole responsibility of the photographer/videographer:
- Privately arranged travel / Equipment & Equipment Insurance / Software / Extra Baggage Fees / Donation perks / Clothing / Postage/Postcard / Prints / Etc.
Photographers Without Borders® (PWB) envisions a world where we all put ourselves in each others' shoes and work together. Our mission is to inform and inspire positive change by visually communicating the ways that grassroots initiatives are addressing problems in their communities. PWB is registered as a charity in the United States with 501(c)(3) status and is registered as a not-for-profit organization in Canada. All donations are calculated in US Dollars and are tax-deductible for Americans and Canadians with US income.
PWB is not responsible for any donations made outside of these pages.
Any overage amounts raised on GroupRev will be donated with the photographers direction, 100% to the Organization, 100% to PWB or split 50/50, between the photographer's/videographer's assigned cause and PWB, which is also a volunteer-run organization.
PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY !
All donations are calculated in US Dollars and are tax-deductible for Americans and Canadians with US income.
