Hi Friends and family, for the past 7 years I have been involved in the Tour De Force. It's difficult constantly asking people to contribute to your cause. You get bombarded everyday from people asking you to donate.
What makes TDF different. From a money raising standpoint not much, however, when I first started with TDF I found myself in very foreign territory.
I had no connection to 9/11 or police officers but here I was among this group of people in NYC.
Being from the Midwest as many of you I saw the horrors of 9/11 but the connection was not there until the first year of this ride and I attended Ground Zero. From that moment I had my first sense of the enormity of these attacks.
I spoke with people who were right there, first hand first responders. The passion they spoke with and the heartfelt stories I heard moved me to make sure I will do everything I can to support this great cause. The tour has evolved over the years and now our initiative is to support families of fallen law enforcement. I have met some of the husbands, wives and children of officers left behind. It's heart wrenching and drives me to reach out to everyone of you to join me in finding a way to honor these heroes. Thank you for all your kind and generous support over the past years. Because of you some people will sleep a little easier tonight.
