Hey everyone! Thanks for visiting my page. On April 22 I will be running the 4 mile Jigsaw run for Autism Awareness. The EJ Autism Foundation raises money for Autism Awareness and to support programs and schools on Long Island that currently work with children on the spectrum. As a math teacher, every year I come across students who touch my heart, but it with the students with Autism who will stay there forever,
This year I am running for two students in particular.
This is Anna and her sister Kate. I met Anna when she was just a little preschooler. Back in those days even the slightest bit of eye contact was something to be celebrated. Every day when Anna would come in I would sit with her to sing "Part of your World" from The Little Mermaid to help her transition. I loved that special time with her. Though Anna couldn't always tell you exactly how she was feeling you could always feel the love in her heart. I have kept in touch with Anna's mom via social media and love watching how much she's grown! Anna is such a smart, kind, and silly little girl who loves to dance, loves her pets, and especially loves her little sister. She is doing amazing thanks to the love and support of her AMAZING mom as well as the support she gets from school. Robin you were amazing then, you are amazing now, I am running this as much for you as I am for Anna! Love my blonde girls <3
The second student I am running for is Sean. Sean stole my heart the minute he walked into my Algebra class. He was always quick to correct my silly mistakes, and those of his classmates, and always, always, brought a smile to my face each and every day. I am so lucky to have had him as a student. Sean LOVES animals, he could probably tell you more about big cats than I can about math, and hopes to one day to work in wildlife conservation. It brought such joy to my heart to watch him sing on stage with the concert choir, receive an award for science, and crush his regents exam!! I am so, so proud of this boy and miss having him in class every day. Keep being awesome Sean!!
Students like Anna and Sean are able to do so well thanks to their loving families who advocate for them to get the best services available to them. It is so important for us to continue funding these programs so these students can continue doing what they love, bringing smiles to everyone around them, and shooting for the stars. I hope you will join me in supporting this great cause!
Thank you for reading, and thank you for donating!!
