On Sunday May 5th 2019, the Stroke Awareness Foundation (SAF) will host its 8th Annual Fight Stroke Walk at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. This fun-filled inspiring event spans generations and brings together families, friends, caregivers and stroke survivors to raise money to fight stroke and improve stroke outcomes through public education and awareness efforts.
Since 2012, our Walk has hosted over 3,500 walkers and grew to include over 80 sponsors. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised over $1,000,000 to educate Santa Clara County citizens on signs and symptoms of stroke and most importantly - what to do in the event of a stroke emergency.
On the personal front, my mom suffered 3 strokes in her lifetime. At first, i did not know the signs and what to do in such an emergency. Had i known, i would have been better prepared. Also, caring for a stroke victim is draining, if we had known of resources available to us, we could have handled it better. My mother was a kind and compassionate soul, i walk this walk in her memory and i hope you will support me, either by donating or walking with me. This is a cause close to my heart. And maybe we can just save more precious lives in time.
