Two years ago, “Men of Valor” from Mariners Church came together and raised enough funds to construct a dormitory at the Glory Glory center in Valere, Haiti, which today houses 13 young boys and their house parents. It provides safety, comfort, and a stark contrast to their previous accommodations. The generosity of the Men’s Ministry has ensured these 13 young men and their 39 brothers and sisters, also housed at the Glory Glory center, will have an opportunity at a better life.
One year ago, the Men’s Ministry sent a team to Haiti to continue their support of Pastor Sam and the 52 children he cares for on a daily basis. On that trip, the “Taj MaCoop” – a chicken coop project – was constructed, which provides a steady source of protein and eggs for the children; something which is a luxury in many parts of Haiti. Moreover, this sustainability project was the first step toward ensuring a stable financial future for the Glory Glory Center.
On January 21st 2016, Mariners’ Men’s ministry will send another team down in what is becoming an annual tradition. This team will concentrate on educating local pastors and church leaders on how to recognize addiction in their community, and compassionately implement ‘care and recovery’ programs to assist. Led by Jack West, the team will also help bring understanding for the causes of addiction, and the fact that they are usually a manifestation of deep spiritual brokenness.
The team will also “do what men do”. They will perform some much needed maintenance around the Glory Glory Center. Yes, we will be painting, fixing bathroom fixtures, changing light bulbs, cutting grass, maybe caping a newly drilled well, and just getting dirty with tools and thangs. (All men should do their best Tim Allen grunt…right now!!!)
Our team invites you to participate alongside our merry band of men, and lift the team up in prayer as we go out humbly serving God’s people in Haiti. We travel to Haiti knowing the enemy will be lurking, so prayers are very important from now until after the team returns. We also invite you to participate financially if you are compelled to do so. All that we have belongs to God, and should he put this trip upon your heart, please know that we welcome any support, be it $10 or $1,000.
Thank you and God bless.
