WHY GET WET?
When the going gets tough, the tough get swimming! And that's exactly what I'm doing to help an amazing non-profit that is near and dear to my heart - so much so that I proudly serve as a Board of Director and spend much of my free time helping them succeed at their mission with my digital marketing and brand strategy services, co-chairing events, volunteering, and even getting down + dirty in last year's World Famous Mud Run ® at Camp Pendleton. And now? It's time to get wet!
I'll be swimming in this year's Fit 4 The Cause Summer Splash 5000 Yard Relay.
My oldest son, Max, is keeping me motivated to #justkeepswimming to achieve my fundraising goal and swimming 50 laps in the relay. (He's that super handsome 7-year-old dog paddling in the video below.) Max is excited to support my training efforts as my "coach" and we're hoping you'll also be as excited to help by sponsoring me.
So why am I this invested in this non-profit that I would participate in a relay swim after years of being a landlocked momma? (Yes, that ancient picture of me above is probably the last time I actually swam laps in a pool!)
As many of you know I've been working tirelessly to get my youngest son an autism service dog. Fit 4 The Cause has stepped up to help me in my personal fundraising efforts for A Superdog for Sebastian and will be hosting a fitness event later this year with partial proceeds going towards his service dog. But that's just a very small part of what this organization does for special populations.
I'm dedicating my summer to training and participating in the Summer Splash 5000 Yard Relay Swim:
Because of the nutrition classes Fit 4 The Cause provides to the low income residents who live in assisted living facilities located in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley and managed by Many Mansions
Because of the exercise classes Fit 4 The Cause provides to the at risk teens who take part in the Breakthrough Student Assistance Program affiliated with the Conejo Valley Unified School District
Because of the exercise classes and personal training sessions Fit 4 The Cause provides to the fragile and physically challenged seniors who attend the weekly community classes at DePaz Energie Fitness Studio and who train at The Stadium
Because of the fitness events Fit 4 The Cause produces throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties which generate much needed revenue for its many qualified non-profit community partners, like my son's cause
Because of Fit 4 The Cause's aspiration to devote 70% of its gross revenue in support of its programming instead of subsidizing expensive offices, bloated salaries and bottomless expense accounts
WON'T YOU DIVE IN WITH ME TO KEEP THESE LIFE CHANGING SERVICES & PROGRAMS AFLOAT?
Sponsor me with whatever amount you can afford. Every dollar makes a splash!
Good luck. You are my hero and I hope it all goes (wait for it...) swimmingly well. Much love, ...dr
Coach Max Bordonaro
Just keep swimming, Mommy! I'm proud of you.
