In the past four years since Evan went home to be with the Lord, more than 8,000 additional children have died from cancer in the U.S. What can WE do to help? Come participate with us in GCU's Annual Run to Fight Children's Cancer event on March 11, 2017.
Join our team and walk in memory of our precious and loving son, Evan C. Gary. Though Evan had many creative interests, he had an even bigger heart to see that those around him knew the saving love of Jesus Christ. At the age of 12, Evan was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. With his whole family by his side, he sought treatment over a 25-month period at four different internationally known medical institutions across the United States. As he bravely battled cancer in all of these various settings and circumstances, Evan continued to excel in most everything he did while maintaining a positive attitude and an eternal perspective on life. Once a person met Evan, their life was changed forever and for the better. The evening before he passed away at the age of 14, Evan declared, "I'm going to serve Jesus and Him alone. I'm going to focus on what's right. How about you?" So we walk in honor of Evan's life, his faith, and his persistent attitude of never giving up.
