Dear SJR Families & Friends,

Get those walking shoes ready because it’s that time of year again! Our annual SJR Home & School Association Walkathon, a major fundraiser for our school and a fun tradition for our students!

School walkathons have a long-standing tradition in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. When I talk to adults who are alumni of Catholic elementary schools, they often share cherished memories of their faith formation, friendships, and meaningful traditions. The annual school walkathon is one of those special traditions. While they may not remember the funds raised, they fondly recall the sense of community and togetherness it fosters. It truly is a wonderful afternoon.

This year, our walkathon is scheduled for Friday, November 15th. We invite you to join in the fun, and if this is your first walkathon, welcome to a treasured Catholic school tradition!

This event is one of our largest fundraisers of the year. The proceeds support nursing services at SJR and health initiatives like CPR and first aid training for our faculty and staff. It’s important to note that without our walkathon, we wouldn't have a nurse at school. The local school district provides a certified nurse who visits monthly to review immunization compliance and conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings, but she does not provide direct care to students.
