Hi Friends and Family, this is Alex! As many of you know, I, along with my daughter Jessica and a group of her friends from Cal Lutheran University, Katy, Lydia and Haley, have partnered with FaithQuest Missions to raise money for impoverished people in some of the poorest countries on earth. This year my daughter Annie, now attending the University of San Diego (Go Toreros!) has joined our team! We are helping FaithQuest raise funds to aid displaced refugees in war-torn areas around the world. Many of these refugees are children with no families. They face hardship everyday and we hope to help ease some pain. Please consider donating - since our family and relay team have been working with FaithQuest (this is our third year), we have helped them raise over $100,000.00 in the support of many worthy causes! This year, a group of teams is trying to raise $35,000.00. Our individual team goal is $5000.00. With your help, we can do it!

So how are we going to do this? Well, we are going to run from Huntington Beach, CA south to San Diego in what's called the SoCal Ragnar.  You locals know how far that is! For our out-of-towners, we take a winding path that has us running almost 200 MILES! Call us nuts - it will be our third time doing this!

We sincerely appreciate your support for this fundraiser and our goal. You can donate now by hitting “Give Now” on the upper right. You can give with any major credit card and it only takes 30 seconds. We appreciate it so very much.

Thank you for joining us!

Hi Everyone!

We did it - we completed the 200-mile Ragnar race from Huntington Beach to San Diego. With the hills of Tijuana, Mexico in the background, we crossed the Coronado Beach finish line as a team at 4:30 PM Sunday. Because of you, we were able to raise $3,500.00. It was a tad short of our goal but it will go a long way! We have posted a few pictures on the fundraising site of the team at the end of the race:

It was an incredible experience and as three-time race veterans, the experience is more rewarding each year. We suffer some temporary pain while raising money to alleviate real pain. Annie suffered a little pain as she lost her way on her 3:00 AM run...added 2.5 miles to her adventure! Turns out, signage was not up on her race leg. The rest of the team came in no worse for wear.

Thank you all again for the support and we'll see you out there next year. Until next time, our team motto seems appropriate...

Hey everyone! New pictures up of this mornings run on the fundraising page

Pics include our team at the start, some crazy artwork on our van, Katy and Lydia posing in front of their van pics and all of us at dinner...some of the runs today burned 1500 calories...gotta eat!!

We took off this AM on our first legs. Our van ran a total of 39.5 miles so we are a tad sore! We are now down in Oceanside...We are in van 2; van 1 is out now and we get the baton back around midnight. We should finish up our second legs around 4:30 this morning. We will continue to post new pics and we hope you follow this crazy adventure!

Thanks so much for your support - we truly appreciate it! Another update coming tonight!

Hi Everyone!

The race is less than 24 hours away and we are ready to go! Thank you to everyone who donated; your support is awesome! We passed the $3,000.00 mark yesterday...very cool! We are still pushing to reach $5,000.00 so please spread the word. Donations came from all over the country: New York (shout out to my cousin Mireille!), Seattle (love the Lindors!), Atlanta (way to go Champagne George!), Oklahoma (thanks to all the Rodgers!), the Snodderly family in Portland, OR, and right here at home (thank you Hodgsons!), the Structure Networks folks (Rosan, Joe, Dan and Dave), Coach Lindsay, Tina, and Catie (GO REGALS!). Also a special shout-out to Chuck and Katie Joseph (Arizona!) who stepped up with a $500.00 donation! Same to Janice and Steve Miano of PlanNet Consulting (great friends and business associates), also with a $500.00 donation. I can't list them all but we thank all of you for going on this journey with us - more updates and pictures to follow once we are underway.

Thanks again and here we go!

Alex, Jessica, Annie, Katy, Haley and Lydia
