The Freedom Ride 2016

Hi Friends and Family, I am partnering with Freedom Ride Project and raising money for The Freedom Ride 2016. As many of you know I am a father of two amazing daughters Kensington and Kylie Myers, ages 16 and 12. The Freedom Ride project made me aware of this heinous crime occurring to girls in their age group. Domestic minor sex trafficking involves the sexual exploitation of adolescent girls 18 and younger and what astounds me is that this criminal act is occurring in every city throughout the United States. It saddens me that these are children that are being exploited in such a manner. They may be victims of broken homes, runaways or even abducted right off the streets. Most are being are induced to perform a commercial sex act by force, fraud or coercion. In American society, the demand for sex and sexuality is high, and the media have made terms such as prostitution, pimps, and johns part of everyday vocabulary. Estimated profits in this industry are nearly 150 billion annually and human trafficking has been cited as the third largest source of revenue behind narcotics and illegal arms sales as the fastest growing criminal industry in the world. It's no surprise that without the demand for sex such a trade would even exist. If you are a healthcare worker, police officer, EMS provider, social worker or other trade that possibly puts you face to face with a potential victim, I have provided some resources for you to become familiar with.
